Check out our album on FB!

It was Story Time in the Community! The Cat in the Hat was BACK at SWLSB’s Twin Oaks Elementary School Tuesday June 7th in the early evening. Participants were invited to wear pyjamas, robes and slippers…and to bring their teddy bears and other stuffed animals. We had lots of fun stations for the children and their family members to visit. The Cat-in the-Hat was on hand to greet and interact with the families. The Learning Exchange and Sir Wilfrid Laurier volunteers and staff were joined by student volunteers from CDC Vimont, Twin Oaks Elementary and North Star Academy to set up for the event and oversee each station.

Children had fun at the different stations:

  • Making bookmarks
  • Listening to interactive stories in the reading tents
  • Solving or playing word games and puzzles
  • Bringing in books for a book exchange
  • Drawing and creating at the Story Wall
  • Selecting a new book to bring home!

Congratulations to all raffle winners

Parents were shown how to Create a Writing Kit and entered into the draw for books and the opportunity to win one of two writing kits for their children.

The raffle took place at the end of the event, in Twin Oaks beautiful new gymnasium. Four parents won new books and two children each won a writing kit filled with lots of great items.
